The healthcare sector is surprisingly carbon-intensive (more than shipping and aviation!) and polluting.
And the NZ healthcare sector is in the top 5 worst in the world at GHG emissions per capita.
HealthNZ has a woefully under-resourced sustainability team to address this issue.

We are most likely going to hit 1.5 degree global avg temp rise within the next 15 years, with a vast array of health implications.
But for every 0.1 degree rise above that which is prevented, millions of people, species, ecosystems are saved.
Some clinicians have written a letter jointly and sent it to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners of HealthNZ, but we continue to collect signatures and will follow this up shortly.
